ETQAAN held intensive workshops with representatives of all cadres of secondary technical and technological education institutions to discuss the application of institutional accreditation standards and the achievement of the acceptable performance level.
Following the completion by the Egyptian TVET for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN) of the setting of accreditation standards and indicators for programs and institutions of secondary technical and technological education, as well as the establishment of acceptable performance levels for each indicator, the Authority organized these workshops. The standards were formulated through a committee comprising representatives of the specialized general administrations (industrial, agricultural, commercial, and hotel) at the Central Administration for Technical Education Schools; representatives of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education (including the Central Unit for Improving and Assuring the Quality of Technical Education, the General Administration for Dual Education and Training, and the Unit for the Operation and Management of Applied Technology Schools) at the Ministry of Education and Technical Education; representatives of the Productivity and Vocational Training Department; the National Accreditation Council; members of the Technical Committee for Educational Institutions’ Quality Management Systems Specifications at the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality under the Ministry of Industry; representatives of the Ministry of Health and Population and the General Authority for Teaching Hospitals and Institutes; representatives of the Federation of Egyptian Industries; representatives of private sector companies; representatives of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education; the General Authority for Educational Buildings; quality assurance experts; civil society organizations working in development fields related to secondary technical and technological education; in addition to representatives of the Technical Support Project for the Comprehensive Technical Education Initiative (TCTI) funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
ETQAAN organized an intensive workshop with representatives of all cadres of Applied Technology Schools and International Schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, nursing schools and institutes affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population and the General Authority for Teaching Hospitals and Educational Institutes, as well as training centers affiliated with the Productivity and Vocational Training Department at the Ministry of Industry, to discuss the application of institutional accreditation standards and achieving the acceptable level of performance.
The workshop was characterized by participants’ enthusiasm and positive interaction with facilitators from their respective institutions, who were members of the standards setting committee. Participants praised the clarity and comprehensiveness of the standards, their coverage of all aspects of evaluating technical and technological education schools, their consistency, and the feasibility of their application to reach the acceptable level transparently for accreditation purposes.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Moussa Emara, Chairman of ETQAAN, announced that the Authority will hold a series of workshops in the coming days targeting representatives of all cadres of secondary technical and technological schools, dual education and training schools, representatives of Units Facilitating Transition to the Labor Market, and all directors of Technical Education Quality Improvement and Assurance Units within the educational directorates, to train participants on applying the accreditation standards for programs and institutions of secondary technical and technological education.
