ETQAAN Authority held a Workshop on Accreditation Standards for Technological Universities and Signs a Cooperation Protocol with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
As part of its efforts to disseminate the culture of quality and enhance the readiness of technological education institutions to obtain accreditation, the Egyptian TVET Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN) held a workshop entitled “Accreditation Standards for Technological Universities” on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr Ahmed El-Gioushi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Technological Education and Head of the Education Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with presidents and representatives of technological universities, quality assurance units, and a number of experts and specialists in quality and accreditation. The workshop sessions were presented by Dr Dalia Taha, Senior Expert at ETQAAN Authority, who presented the accreditation standards for technological universities and the requirements for their implementation.
The workshop presented the institutional accreditation standards for technological universities and mechanisms for their implementation. It also featured interactive discussions addressing participants’ inquiries and facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices, thereby supporting institutional performance and enhancing the readiness of technological universities to apply for accreditation.
The workshop also addressed the general framework of the accreditation standards for technological universities, covering leadership, governance and institutional transformation; institutional management and operational efficiency; resources and capabilities; teaching and learning aligned with labor market needs; applied research and innovation; community engagement and partnerships with industry; institutional relations; and institutional quality, performance management and continuous improvement, in accordance with national and international best practices in quality assurance and accreditation.
The workshop also witnessed the signing of a Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Egyptian TVET Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN). The protocol aims to support the Ministry’s Central Unit for Improving and Assuring the Quality of Technological and Technical Education, qualify certified trainers of trainers, implement specialized training programs in quality and accreditation, and issue jointly recognized certificates to trainees. These certificates will also be recognized as part of the requirements for qualifying external reviewers to work with ETQAAN Authority, contributing to build a sustainable system for institutional development and enhancing the quality of technological and technical education.
Prof. Dr Mohamed Mousa Emarah, Chairman of ETQAAN Authority, emphasized that organizing the workshop reflects ETQAAN Authority’s commitment to support technological universities and enable them to meet accreditation requirements, thereby enhancing the quality of their outcomes and their ability to meet labor market needs, in line with Egypt’s direction towards developing technological education and enhancing its quality in accordance with national and international standards.
