he General Syndicate of the Egyptian Nursing Profession and the Egyptian TVET for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN) signed a cooperation protocol aimed at promoting the culture of quality and qualifying nursing cadres working in institutions of technical, technological education and vocational training. This comes in implementation of the principle of institutional integration and in unification of the efforts of national institutions.
The protocol was signed by Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, General President of the Egyptian Nursing Syndicate, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Moussa Emara, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian TVET for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN). The signing took place on the sidelines of a workshop entitled: “Discussion of the Requirements and Procedures for the Accreditation Application of Programs and Institutions of Technological Education.”
This protocol represents a genuine nucleus for integrated work, bringing together the General Syndicate of the Egyptian Nursing Profession—established under Law No. (115) of 1976, as the authority responsible for representing male and female nurses, regulating the profession, protecting the rights of its members, ensuring a decent life for those working in the profession, defending it, and safeguarding its ethics, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and other relevant bodies to enhance its efficiency through ensuring the quality of education and training—and the Egyptian TVET for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN), which is mandated with establishing and applying a quality assurance and accreditation system for institutions and programs of technical, technological education and vocational training.
The protocol aims to cooperate in enhancing the capacities of all education and training cadres related to the nursing profession in the field of quality assurance and accreditation, as well as coordinating with international and local bodies, projects, and programs to support the quality system in affiliated institutions and programs.
Participants in the workshop and attendees of the protocol signing included members of the National Committee for setting Accreditation Standards for Programs and Institutions of Technological Education in Egypt, formed of faculty members from various universities, along with representatives of: the Military Technological College, the Supreme Council for Technological Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, technological universities, technological colleges, post-secondary technical institutes, health institutes, the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAA), representatives of the Technical Committee for Quality Management Systems Specifications for Educational Institutions at the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality, representatives of employers from the labor market, the General Authority for Health Insurance, the Giza Health Directorate, and a distinguished group of quality assurance experts at the Authority. The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Moussa Emara, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ETQAAN.
