ETQAAN held an expanded workshop to present the institutional and program accreditation standards for post-secondary technological education & the conditions and procedures for applying for accreditation

he Egyptian TVET Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN) held an expanded workshop to present the institutional and program accreditation standards for post-secondary technological education, the conditions and procedures for applying for accreditation, and the mechanisms for completing self-assessment templates for institutions and programs applying for accreditation.

              The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Gouda Ghanem, Head of the Education Sector and Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Institutes at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Gamal Hashem, Advisor to the Minister for Higher Institutes Affairs and Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education at the Ministry. The event also brought together directors of technological colleges nationwide, directors of post-secondary technological institutes within each college, quality assurance officers at each institute, representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Director of General administration of Training at the Ministry, and a distinguished group of ETQAAN quality assurance experts.

            The workshop was characterized by productive discussions and active participation from all attendees in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and positivity.

              During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Gouda Ghanem emphasized that developing the technological education system is a fundamental pillar for supporting the national economy and ensuring alignment between educational outputs and labor market requirements. He stressed the importance of ETQAAN’s participation in developing academic programs and regulatory bylaws at institutes, as a key partner in advancing the system, strengthening institutional governance, and enhancing the efficiency and quality of educational processes and outcomes. He added that the coming period will witness the reorganization of administrative structures, the updating of academic programs, the activation of quality assurance and accreditation systems, and the enhancement of human resource capacities, contributing to the improvement of technological education quality and supporting Egypt’s sustainable development plans.

              During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Gamal Hashem stated that there are forty-four governmental institutes distributed across the governorates of Egypt, and that a centralized platform has been developed within the Ministry of Higher Education to support accreditation. The platform aims to unify procedures, monitor institutional readiness, and provide the necessary technical support to institutes throughout the accreditation process. He affirmed that these efforts seek to prepare qualified technical cadres and activate quality assurance system within institutes, thereby improving institutional efficiency and enhancing readiness for accreditation, in line with the Ministry’s vision, Egypt’s sustainable development plans, and Egypt Vision 2030.

              In addition, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Moussa Emara, Chairman of the Board of (ETQAAN), stated that a number of quality assurance officers from all post-secondary technological institutes will be trained by the Authority through a specialized training package focused on meeting institutional and program accreditation standards for post-secondary technological education, as well as the conditions and procedures for applying for accreditation. This initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of quality assurance units within these institutes and encourage them to move forward toward accreditation.

              All participants commended the clarity of the accreditation conditions and procedures, as well as the self-assessment templates for institutions and programs, noting the ease of fulfilling accreditation requirements.
