International Recognition for ETQAAN Authority: Steady Progress Toward Aligning TVET Quality Standards with European Practices
a development that reflects the success of the strategic direction adopted by the Egyptian TVET Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority (ETQAAN), the 2026 Annual Report of the European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training (EQAVET) Network recognized the Authority’s significant progress in aligning its national quality assurance standards with European and international practices.
The recognition followed the 2026 Annual Meeting of the EQAVET Network, organized by the European Commission and the EQAVET Secretariat in Cyprus.
Professor Dr. Mohamed Mousa Emarah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ETQAAN Authority, stated that the international event provided a valuable platform for exchanging expertise and discussing strategic perspectives on the future of quality assurance policies at both the national and European levels. The meeting brought together 54 representatives from 25 European Union Member States, the European Training Foundation (ETF), and representatives from 8 non-EU countries.
According to the report, ETQAAN Authority has successfully developed an effective methodology for monitoring and continuously improving Egypt’s technical, technological education, and vocational training (TVET) system. The report further emphasized the importance of continued European Union support to assist ETQAAN Authority in preparing for Egypt’s first national assessment of the quality assurance system for TVET, based on both national and international quality indicators.
The report also acknowledged the support provided by the European Training Foundation (ETF) through a comprehensive package of policy advice, expert reviews, peer-learning activities, and specialized workshops delivered with the participation of experts from the EQAVET Network.
As part of this cooperation, the European Training Foundation (ETF) engaged three experts from the EQAVET Network, each of whom conducted a comprehensive assessment of the accreditation standards proposed by ETQAAN Authority. Their findings were presented during a specialized workshop held in Cairo in October 2025, providing practical recommendations based on the quality assurance approaches adopted across European Union Member States.
The report was concluded by highlighting the strategic importance of Egypt’s TVET system, which serves more than two million learners, and emphasized ETQAAN Authority’s pivotal role in establishing accreditation standards and overseeing the quality assurance of this vital sector.
